As members of various groups on campus, such as GSEC (Guelph Students for Environmental Change), OXFAM, and others, we hope to reduce the amount of bottled water consumed at the University of Guelph. In this regard, we are approaching individual student groups councils and faculty departments to sign a pledge removing the offer of bottled water during their respective events, meetings, and if applicable, halting their sale of bottled water. Ultimately, we would like the University Administration to encourage alternatives to the use of bottled water. The list of endorsers will be used to show the wide ranging support on campus. Besides the pledges, we are working toward frosh week (Orientation week) being bottled water free by proposing large canteen systems around campus. With increasing student capacity, we hope to engage in educational projects (promotion through campus radio and campus newspapers) and water fountain awareness.
